Media Ownership Workshops in Chicago

Workshops on media ownership are being held in Chicago in anticipation of the FCC’s visit on Sept. 20 for hearing on the topic. Chicago has one of the lowest levels of minority media ownership amongst major markets, so the issue of diversity in ownership is a particular focus of these workshops sponsored by groups like the NAACP, Rainbow Push and Radio Arte.

In fact, the hearing itself will be held at the HQ of Rainbow Push, Dr. King’s Workshop, 930 East 50th Street (corner of South Drexel Blvd.) Chicago, Illinois 60615. It runs 4 – 11 PM, with public comment making up a big portion of the time. Though I understand if you want to comment it’s best to get there early to get on the sign-up list.

Here are the workshops happening in the next list (thanks to Chicago Media Action for passing this info along). Most of the groups ask that you RSVP if you intend to attend.
