The story on low-power FM did indeed run on the Newshour last night. It’s surprisingly fair and not too harsh with the inevitable “who’s listening?” question. Also, I was glad to see that they didn’t take the angle of trying to make the low-power broadcasters look like a pack of nuts and misfits — instead they really played the “regular folks angle.”
NPR president Kevin Klose appears briefly in the piece to explain why he opposed LPFM, trotting out his tired “it wasn’t sufficiently tested” line. You can read more about my own “Klose Encounter” where I questioned him about his LPFM stance.
The Newshour piece is available for viewing online in RealVideo.
